Guy Cottam is a Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 40 years experience in the construction industry. He was for many years a director of a major international building and civil engineering
contractor, and was responsible for estimation, procurement of work and purchasing for contracts in the UK, South Africa, the Middle East and Far East. His experience covers all types of building works, roadworks, bridges, docks, tunnels, power stations, and heavy civil engineering. He specialises in construction costs, unforeseen circumstances and delay and disruption claims.
He set up his own firm, Guy Cottam & Partners in 1985, and specialises in the resolution of construction disputes and contractual advice. He is a past Chairman of the Arbitration Advisory Panel and the Conciliation and Adjudication Advisory Panel at the Institution of Civil Engineers and is currently Chairman of the Legal Affairs Advisory Panel.
He is well known as an arbitrator having had some 150 appointments, and is on the Arbitrator’s List of the ICE, RIBA, FIDIC. He is the Chairman of two Dispute Resolution Boards and member of another.
